Different Types Of Mini Circuit Breaker (mcbs)
Miniature Circuit Breakers (MCBs) are classified into several types based on their tripping characteristics, which are the fault current levels at which the device operates during short circuits or overloads.
Type B MCB: Type B MCBs trip when the current is 3 to 5 times the rated current. They are used for purely resistive loads or with very small inductive loads, typically in low power domestic applications like lighting circuits and home wirings.
Type C MCB: Operating for a current value of 5 to 10 times the rated current, Type C MCBs are used with inductive loads such as motors, fans, and transformers, where there is a chance of sudden current surges. They are mainly used in commercial and industrial applications.
Type D MCB: With a trip current of 10 to 20 times the rated current, Type D MCBs are used for very high inductive loads. They are mainly found in high power industrial applications for equipment like heavy motors, transformers, x-rays, and welding equipment.
What is the difference between DC MCB and AC MCB?

DC Mini Circuit Breaker:

②Special design: DC MCBs are usually equipped with special contact materials and interrupter chamber designs to cope with the continuous characteristics of DC arcs.
③Overload protection: DC MCBs are able to effectively prevent overloads due to overcharging of batteries or reverse currents in PV systems.
AC Mini Circuit Breaker:
①AC CURRENT CHARACTERISTICS: AC circuit breakers are suitable for AC currents and are able to utilise the natural zero crossing point of the current to break the circuit more easily.
②Wide range of applications: AC circuit breakers are suitable for AC power distribution in most standard residential and commercial buildings, as well as in industrial environments.
③Cost Effective: AC circuit breakers are typically more economical than DC MCBs due to their wide range of applications and production scale.
④Ease of Installation: AC circuit breakers are relatively simple to install and maintain and require no special skills or equipment.
